Announcing Payment Receipts in Jobber

Just a quick post today to let you know that we’ve added Payment Receipts to Jobber.

Up to now if your customer needed a receipt for payment you had to send them a ‘Paid’ Invoice to indicate that the payment had been received. Proper receipts is something that’s been requested quite a bit, and it was time to fit it into the development schedule.

Printing a Payment receipt is easy — just click any Payment in the Transactions pane for a Client, and then click the little printer icon in the top right corner of the dialog box that pops up, as can be seen in the screen shot to the left.

We hope this little addition helps make things a little easier for some of you!

Sincerely,
The Jobber Team

Printing Quotes and Invoices on the Road from a Tablet

Edit (April 24, 2012): LawnSite.com user KLC LAWN has found a printer that will connect directly to other devices via WiFi, without the need for a router! The HP Photosmart 5514 is confirmed to work, and we imagine other HP WiFi printers will as well. This is great news for those wanting to print in the field — thanks for the tip KLC LAWN!

As a side note, for those of you that are unaware of LawnSite.com, it’s about the best resource out there for information and discussions surrounding the green industries, from landscaping and lawn care to irrigation and more. Topics vary from equipment and techniques, to business management, software and a lot more.

We spend quite a bit of time in the forums over at www.LawnSite.com listening to and participating in conversations about lawn care business management and how software can help. One of the members, KLC LAWN, is using Jobber from an iPad and had a great question (link to post)

“Is there a printer…Bluetooth or WiFi that doesn’t need to be connected to a network?”

In other words — How do you print from an iPad in the field? This is a great question, and I was shocked to find after some research that hardware support for printing on the iPad is unacceptably bad. It seems to have been completely ignored by hardware manufacturers, which is really a shame, and I really hope they fill this gap soon.

With the limitations in mind, there seem to be two possible approaches to printing in your truck.
