Time again for another Jobber Update Summary. In the past couple weeks Jobber’s development team has been dropping improvements and new features faster than trees have been dropping their leaves.
In this post we’ll try to rake up all the changes, explain how they work and what we were thinking when we implemented them.
The Quick List:
Read on for more information about some of the bigger changes.
Every year between the long, frivolous days of summer and the short, harsh days of winter we pass over an orange and yellow bridge where everyone knows to wear a sweater but flounder when deciding whether or not to wear a coat.
As we change our behaviour to adapt to the new situation so does the world around us. Trees shed their leaves, animals grow thick new coats and grasses, probably do something too?
To disambiguate these subtle changes to the natural world, Jobber has done some research on just what causes the myriad of transformations we see in the fall.
Winters are hard on people, but they’re even harder on vehicles. Snow, salt and gravel pelt the body and undercarriage while under the hood the battery, oil and fluids become sluggish in the cold.
All across the world employees phone into work explaining they’ll be there any minute while stomping on gas pedals and spinning their tires, and their bosses can’t help but wonder if it was the vehicle or their employee who had trouble rolling over in the morning.
In this Jobber Blog post we’ll go over some things you can do to make sure your work vehicle or fleet is ready for winter to make sure you, and your employees are getting to work on time.
No one ever said running a business is easy. Trying to juggle management tasks, monitor work and jump on the tools when no one else is available can leave you with precious little time for yourself.
That’s why most entrepreneurs have either partners, management teams or both, and while having more people involved lightens the load, it also complicates things.
Asking a simple question like ‘Who’s in charge of billing?’ can be met with a complicated answer.
If you’re servicing businesses with complicated management structures, getting the right person’s ear can result in getting paid faster, getting more work and most importantly, just getting heard.
To make sure you’re getting the right person’s ear, Jobber has added the ability to CC additional recipients in all of your emails.
On October 24-25 Jobber is going to be out in force at the 2013 GIE+EXPO in Louisville Kentucky, at the Kentucky Exposition Centre.
The GIE+EXPO is one of the largest Green Industry trade shows out there, with 750 exhibitors showcasing their goods in 500,000 square feet of indoor space, and 19 acres of outdoor demonstration space for test driving some awesome heavy machinery and just generally making a fun mess!
Jobber will be manning Booth #6031 on both days of the Expo, showing off our industry leading business management software, giving live demonstrations, and of course, handing out some cool swag! Be sure to come say ‘Hi!’ and let us show you how Jobber can help improve your green industry business!
We look forward to seeing you at the show!
For every business, there’s a different workflow. Some companies pay employees based on commission; others hire sub-contractors, contract workers, or pay a set salary. Similarly, billing can be done based on a flat fee, percentage, hourly rate, or a margin on costs and that’s just the beginning.
Just as many models exist for Client feedback, the same goes for scheduling and acquiring new work. When you combine all of these small pieces, you can come up with a seemingly infinite number of combinations.
Your software needs to be customizable because with all of these possibilities, one size does not fit all.
Jobber makes itself customizable in many ways, most notably with optional Add-Ons and settings options, and Custom Fields.
In the end, you know what’s best for your business. To serve you better, Jobber has added Custom Fields to Quotes and Invoices to let you decide what you need, and what you don’t.
Read on to learn how they work.
Having a website can help your business grow in a number of ways, and it can also help you manage your business more efficiently. Taking down Client information over the phone can be tedious and time consuming. It’s much easier to have the information punched into your management software directly by your Client.
Jobber’s web integration Add-On allows you to do this by hosting a form for your clients, or embedding it directly into your website.
In this blog post we’ll expand on our previous post “How To Create a Website for Your Field Service Business” by showing you how to use Jobber’s Web Integration feature with WIX.
Different industries have adopted technology at different rates. When it comes to snow removal technology, many people are stuck using an ice scraper and shovel, and invoicing with a pen and paper.
Technology is rapidly becoming available however. Even individual home owners can now afford snow blowers and plows, and software like Jobber allows for quick and painless invoicing and scheduling.
In this post we’ll go over some of the newest innovations in the snow removal world and some interesting things you can expect to see on the market in the future.
